A large hoarde of Roman coins was found near to Edmondthorpe in 1797 while workmen dug the Oakham to Melton canal between Edmondthorpe and Teigh.
Pottery was also found.
It was thought that the location was adjacent to a Roman road but the site is not otherwise immediatly classified other than the site of a treasure hoarde find.
